Glenorchy is located on the South Island of New Zealand at the head of Lake Wakatipu, 48 kilometres north of Queenstown. Glenorchy is surrounded by mountains in every direction and sits beside the lake: The Humbolt range to the west, and the Richardson range to the east, the stunning view up the Dart River to the north, adjacent to solitary Mt. Alfred. Kinloch sits on the lake front and is directly across from Glenorchy – a mere 1.7 nautical miles or a scenic 26 kilometre drive away. Mt.
