Location

Glenorchy is located on the South Island of New Zealand at the head of Lake Wakatipu, 48 kilometres North-West of Queenstown. Glenorchy is surrounded by mountains, with gorgeous views in every direction, and sits beside the lake: the Humboldt range to the West, and the Richardson range to the East. North of the town is solitary Mt Alfred between the Dart and Rees valleys and rivers. The hamlet of Kinloch is on the lake front and directly across from Glenorchy – a mere 1.7 nautical miles or scenic 26 kilometre drive away. Mt. Aspiring National Park begins close by and can be accessed from the Routeburn road and the Paradise road.
